Feminist Tabletop Football Feminist Tabletop Football is a participatory artwork in progress.

The artwork has been co-designed with participating groups to develop accessibility aspects of my work Feminist Economics Football, created for Feminist Exchange Network and commissioned by Sheffield DocFest.

The game takes the form of a cooperative table-top football game, played on a hexagonal board by three teams exploring intersectional feminism through cooperative play. This new tabletop version reimagines the once-popular Subbuteo game, inviting players to collaborate across their teams, working towards a shared feminist future. At its core, Feminist Tabletop Football offers a playful exploration of an alternative world rooted in cooperation rather than competition - a world aligned with the core principles of feminist economics: social justice, collective thinking, and mutual care. Acknowledging the challenges of achieving this within societies shaped by cisheteropatriarchal binaries, it examines both the shared goals across our struggles and the difficulties of realising this vision.

In each iteration of the game team coaches work with their teams to explore the intersections of their chosen themes, looking at why each theme in a feminist issue and how we might work together to achieve shared goals. Team themes explored by participating groups have included Degrowth, Decolonisation, Ecofeminism, The Caring Economy, Climate Justice, Anti-War, Work, Health, and Public Transport.
I have worked with Rumpus Room, Platform Easterhouse and staff & students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to develop workshop models and consider how the game can be made more fully accessible.

Feminist Exchange Network is a women-led* collective working out of Glasgow, Scotland. We use social and activist arts practices to explore ideas of feminist economics in relation to women’s lived experiences and ways of putting feminist economics into practice at a local level.
